The Short[]

Plot: The local fire chief doesn't have any kids, so he adopts the kids after watching them keep cool by opening a fire hydrant. While the fire department is busy putting out a real fire, the gang is inspired to put out a small kitchen fire on their own. The chief helps them to create their own junior fire department, turning an old barn into a firehouse with all of their own additions, such as a slide from room to room. When the real fire department rushes to another fire in town, the scene of a chemist's lab, the gang follows, but are shooed away after Farina has a hard time controlling his fire hose. The pressure is so great it lifts him off his feet and tosses him around, dousing everything but the fire. Sent to the back alley, the gang fights the fire from the opposite direction, with Mary and Farina braving the flames to rescue all the powder and dynamite inside before it blows up. Joe, meanwhile, is stuck having to constantly give his sister her medicine. Despite these hinderances, they are successful; making the Little Rascals heroes in the face of what could have been an incredible explosion.
Quotes:

  • "I can't get her filled!" - Joe
  • "The Chief lost his pants in the first alarm." - Mary
  • "- I'm gettin' my pants on now - Hold the fire! -" - Joe
  • "Somebody unhook us!" - Bonedust
