History: Rene Beard was the younger brother of Matthew "Stymie" Beard, Carlena Beard, Betty Jane Beard, and Bobbie Beard. In 1947, when producer Hal Roach was looking for a new group of Rascals for the film Curley, former Rascals Matthew Beard brought six-year-old Rene to audition. Rene won the part of Dis in the films Curley and Who Killed Doc Robbin. He later had bit parts in a handful of films and television series, his last being a cameo in 1994's North. Today, he continues to keep legacy of his brother Matthew and the Our Gang series alive.

In the two films he is credited with an additional "e" in his name, as Renee Beard.
