Norman Lear's New Little Rascals was a proposed television series for ABC. Two pilots (though some sources claim as many as three or four) for the series were shot in 1977, but never aired. The series itself was not picked up. Despite Norman Lear's name being featured in the title, he actually had little to no involvement with the series.
Among the child actors hired for the series was a then-unknown Gary Coleman. While viewing the pilot, Norman Lear noticed Coleman and almost immediately brought him to NBC for television appearance, This soon led to Coleman starring on the popular sitcom Diff'rent Strokes (1978-1986).
Despite the show never making it to airwaves, one of the pilots was screened in 2013 at a Chicago museum exhibit dedicated to Gary Coleman.
