History: Gus Leonard was a Silent Film actor who appeared in nearly 190 movies between 1914 and 1937, mostly in small roles. The French-born actor began his career on the stage in San Francisco as a kid in the 1860s. In later years, specialized in a drunken waiter act in vaudeville and, finding comedy his forte, entered films in 1915. He was almost regularly in the the Lonesome Luke films of Harold Lloyd at Hal Roach Studios. Mostly known for playing a string of old timers, he is most known for the role of Old Cap in Our Gang. He passed away in 1939 at the age of eighty years, three years after his last Our Gang role.
