History: Willie Mae Taylor started out in Our Gang playing a character named "Buckwheat," and later may have developed into Marmalade. She had minor roles in a few Our Gang shorts. She is not known to have participated in any films apart from these. Since her character was a girl and Billie Thomas's Buckwheat was a boy, one explanation is simply that there were two characters with that name, just as there were multiple characters named Jackie and Peggy. Willie Mae Taylor and Billie Thomas appeared together in possibly two shorts, Washee Ironee, in which both sat on the sidelines, and The First Round-Up.
